Kochi: The NFR Kochi Festival officially opened submissions for its inaugural edition on June 22, 2024. Acclaimed film director Sibi Malayil announced the opening through a video message.

“The NFR Kochi Festival will be a tremendous opportunity for the younger generation and for all those who dream, love, and follow films”, said Sibi Malayil in his message. The festival aims to honour and promote creative talents globally. It invites submissions in three categories: short films, documentaries, and animation films.

“A unique characteristic of this competition is that the selection process is done by the method and procedures followed by the Oscars, so our makers also become acquainted with these global procedures,” said Dr. Jain Joseph, the Festival Director.

The NFR Kochi Festival, organised by NEO Film School, is a four-month-long event featuring seven streams of activities. It will culminate in a three-day summit at Taj Vivanta filled with art and cultural events. Film director and Festival Executive Director Leo Thaddeus expressed his commitment to making the festival a landmark event for the film industry.

The festival promises significant individual cash prizes, up to ₹1,00,000, and prestigious awards. Additionally, there are monthly cash prizes for submissions.
