Invest in Filmmaking: NFR Filmincube Opens Doors to Aspiring Film Producers
The NFR Kochi International Film Festival inaugurated its film industry investors’ incubator, NFR Filmincube, on July 27, 2024, at the Kerala Management Association Hall.
Dr. Mohan Thomas, Director & Founder Chairman of Birla Public School, Qatar, and Executive Chairman of NEO Film School, was the Chief Guest. Celebrated film director and Festival Chairman Shri. Siby Malayil delivered the Presidential Address. Ms. Deepti Chawla, Executive Producer of the acclaimed film ‘Shameless,’ served as the key speaker, sharing insights from her extensive experience in international film productions.
NFR Filmincube is an educational and grooming platform for aspiring film producers. Aligned with the principles of Film As A Profession and Business, it aims to mentor projects into functional business models. Interested investors who come onboard will receive a curated list of high-potential scripts vetted by industry experts from the NFR Script Pitching Festival, recently inaugurated by the acclaimed film director Mahesh Narayanan at Shenoys Theatre.
“We believe filmmaking is one of the best businesses in the world, provided it carries transparency in transactions and the sharing of the know-how. This gap is what is now being bridged,” said Dr. Jain Joseph, the Founder & Chairman of Neo Film School.
Other notable speakers included Dr. Beena Unnikrishnan, Chairperson of the NFR Kochi Festival’s Executive Committee, and Mr. Leo Thaddeus, Executive Director of the festival. They highlighted NFR Filmincube’s access to mentorship from seasoned professionals in the film industry and educational workshops designed to enhance understanding of film production and investment strategies.
The NFR Filmincube is part of the ongoing NFR Kochi International Film Festival, a three-month-long celebration culminating in a three-day grand summit in October at Taj Vivanta, Kochi, filled with art, culture, and cinematic excellence. Prithviraj Sukumaran had launched the festival’s website from the sets of his latest film, “L2: Empuraan.” The festival aims to foster a vibrant ecosystem for filmmakers and investors.
